Collingwood Street and Westgate Road |
||||||
Collingwood Street is named after Admiral Lord Collingwood, who was Nelson's second-in-command at the Battle of Trafalgar.
In the modern photograph, the building on the right side of Collingwood Street was constructed on behalf of the Sun Insurance Company (later Sun Life). In 1904, the premises of the gun manufacturer W. R. Pape stood on this spot. Pape eventually sold his factory to Sun, who demolished it to make way for the current building. |
